Anyone who knows me will agree that I am not really a food person. I don’t usually overthink it, I eat what is available and I keep it moving. But there are usually times when I get bored with basic “everyday foods” and decide to be a bit more experimental with my food choices. This post is about one of such times.
I have been trying to give this “intentional living” thing another shot lately, so I convinced my friends and we went to gypsy’s for our usual Sunday afternoon lunch date. I immediately fell in love with ambiance of the place. It had a warm “family room” feel to it. Made even better by the way they utilized the daylight properly on the inside.
We were all like fishes out of water so as you can imagine, confusion was the order of the day at first.
The first thing I should mention is the sudden panic that gripped me when i was handed the menu. Most of it was covered in words I couldn’t understand. But thankfully they had broken it down to the different types of meal. That way I at least had a sense of what to expect in my plate.
After the initial wave of panic cleared, I ordered a drink to cool my naves as we had to wait for the rest of the gang to show up. Shortly after they arrived we began the ordering process and after much deliberation we agreed on the Fried Vermicelli in Singapore Style, Chicken Tikka , Mutton Masala, Tandori Chicken and the Chicken Tikka Masala with a whole lot of delicious Nan bread.
It was ALL so delicious and they have quite a generous portion size. I must admit that i thoroughly enjoyed experiencing all the new flavors explode in my mouth.
Also the food didn’t take too long to be ready. We all know some restaurants will wait till you order an item before going to plant it in the farm.
After our main course, I had the Nutella spring rolls with ice cream(Chinese dessert) which tasted like paradise and my friend had the Kulfi (Indian dessert) which also tasted incredible.
All in all, I would say that it was a wonderful experience and I have definitely developed an appetite for Indian food. I look forward to trying more Indian foods.
